Going by the top of the radiator screen that's been blacked out, I suspect this is a Wolseley saloon of some sort, circa early 1930's.

Allan: I've posted this car and one of your rookie puzzles to the main page - perhaps a new or returning visitor to our site dropping buy can ID one or both.

Not a Wolseley.
Nothing has been blacked out - it's straight off the camera!

Lanchester, yes, but earlier than an 18 h.p.

It is indeed.
Now the coachbuilder, which is perhaps rather more difficult.

The fact is that this version has nothing peculiar, so it's hard to identify the coachbuilder, even looking for the landaulet version...

Perhaps not, but there is a photo of it in the appropriate book with the coachbuilder's name recorded.
If that were on the Internet, you'd have the answer by now of course!

Not Corsica, and Paul Jaray has already correctly identified it as a 21 h.p.

I must admit that it's hard to identify the coachbuilder with no-elements, it's also useless for me to post a list of all of the active ones in that period on that chassis (such as Young,Corsica and others...) so, is there something more you can tell us to help?

This won't really help you unless you know the geography of English coachbuilding, but the photograph was taken in the village of Barrington, Cambridgeshire only about 12 miles from where the body was built!

Edited to say: well more like 15 miles now I look closer.

Marshalls, just on the other side of Cambridge, would be approx. 15 miles away

Yes it would, but not them.
