Hi, this is a Buchanan body. The N.H. Buchanan Motor Co. Pty. Ltd from Australia made at least two fibreglass bodies using an MGA-engine and one on an MGA-chassis.

...my father's creature?

or is it the "John Kinsella" Buchanan MG special built (on a  TF chassis  :-\) in1957 by John Kinsella in Linfield, NSW. Road registered NSW APR769. Owned by Mike Gehde, QLD?

The MGA has its carburettors on the left; the TF has them on the right. The puzzle car has a bulge in the bonnet top on the right, so may be TF (or earlier) engined.
The crash car in the photo I posted has the MGA engine, rendered easily visible by the crash.

On the site you list above:

The photo is flagged as a TF.

Yep, and the other two links do not seems so accurate like the official one, and also Allan L gave a big clue...you can remove the question mark now, it should be the TF based Kinsella Special.
