A saloon car from Allan L: 1932 Lea-Francis Ace of Spades
« on: December 07, 2007, 10:36:03 AM »
Here's one to sort you out: as is often the case on this site, it is not quite what it seems, but as usual I expect to be told the make, model and year.

As I wrote, it is not quite what it seems, but you are on the right track of course.

Not this P-Type Sports (http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle.php?id=70077&PHPSESSID=fc150dc75b0574734cba5cb278882ba0) first reg. 29 June 1934?
Yes that is indeed the car, but as I keep saying you shouldn't believe all that you find on the internet.
It is not a P type 12/40 (or W type 12/40)
That link did include some information which might help, even though most was wrong.

Unusually for me, I can say that this photo (and the car's correct description) can be found on the internet ;D

This has something in common with a much more modern example that was solved a few months ago

That's the one!

http://www.lfoc.org/LFOC_0585_Vehicles_Page_Ace_of_Spades.htm

for more details.
As you will see, the short-chassis Ace is more or less a P type with a six-cylinder engine, hence the mis-identification above was understandable.
That's also what I was referring to as "it is not quite what it seems"
