1964 Halibrand "Shrike" Indy car...the Lloyd Ruby American Red Ball Express. Similar to the one Eddie Sachs was killed in at Indy in '64, but with relocated fuel tanks. This car was a milestone, a real monococque
chassis made from magnesium alloy. Designed by Norman Timbs, who also was famous for the ultra lighteweight[for the time...] Blue Crown cars of the late '40's...Shrikes were built from '64 to '66...Ruby won at Phoenix in one in 1964.
If Sachs hadn't hit the wall on the first day of qualifying at Indy in '64 and started behind Dave MacDonald, he could have given Foyt and Ward a real run for their money with the Shrike.
