Maybe I've already posted on this one - if so sorry. Le Mans classic 2004. The car is now repaired and racing again.

I see wire wheels, a straight six (eight?), and the remnants of log-style exhaust manifold. How about a Jaguar D-type?

wire wheels, straight six, yes. D type, no. D types had no real chassis - monocoque

Guess you picjked up on the clue then Allan! This was reputed to be the most original 1951 drum braked SU carb'd car in existence but the driver was at full chat on the main straight when the Allard in front lost its bonnet (hood) and rather than be decapitated the driver took avoiding action, hitting the armco both sides and doing several hundred yards upside down. The force of the accident was so severe that the manifolds got ripped off the block.

Her is a photo of the complete(?) car and I assure you the other side was just as bad.

However, the value of these cars far exceeding the cost of any repair here it is racing again two years later in 2006

Amazingly considering the state of the car, two broken collar bones and burns but now fine. I don't think he would have been though if another driver hadn't stopped and put out the fire with his extinguisher since there were only three marshalls on the post at the time - one a woman - and the driver was trapped under the burning wreck.

Normally we are a bit sniffy about adding roll-over bars to historic cars, but if it's the same man racing it in 2006, you can't really blame him.
Don't recognise the Nairn (AS) registration - is it original?
I recall that Ecurie Ecosse used Edinburgh (FS).

The history of C types is tortuous and I can't find the car in my reference books unfortunately. It may be an american car sold by Hornburg reimported or whatever. The Ecurie Ecosse cars raced with many plates including RSF, MWS and of course the trade plate SG
