This is the correct answer. The car is from 1970 and is called the AMX/3. Nothing I can find suggests the car was built by Vignale. AMC hired Giotto Bizzarrini to build the car as he had previous experience with suspension and drivetrains in a mid-engined application (the Bizzarrni P538). The information I have found suggests the bodies were built at Bizzarrini's production facilities in Italy. Only 6 AMX/3 cars were built.
The AMX/1 prototype was built by Vignale in 1966 and is generally called the Vignale AMX.
AMX/2 was the car mounted on a pole outside a car dealership for many years. It was only a pushmobile.
