Moon buggies can not run with an internal combustion engine.

Well they could if they took their own oxygen supply (as do the rockets (also internal combustion) that get them there).

Well it was just a kind of earth-bound testing vehicle.

And weren´t  there are rumours that the whole moon project was just filmed by Stanley Kubrick?  ;)

Or if they were driven down here!

Rockets are NOT internal combustion.  Rockets are external combustion as the combustion is not held in a confined space.

Sorry, mate, but unless the definition of internal vs. external has changed a confined space has little to do with it.
Further, the majority of the combustion takes place in the rocket's chamber and the fact that it is often incomplete and the exhaust is still burning as it exits the nozzle does not disqualify it from the term, any more than does the flaming exhaust gases of (say) a drag racing "car"

I've always thought of a steam engine as definitive of the external combustion engine. There needs to be a heat exchanger for it to be defined as external combustion. Of course, the standard Otto cycle engine has a heat exchanger, often called a radiator, but that's for removing excess heat, rather than for transfering it to create power.

Of course, my understanding of such things is rudimentary at best, so this should be regarded as a combination of folklore, shamanism, urban legend and fiction. Actually, that applies to everything I write.

A confined space has everything to do with internal combustion, by definition!!!!

 :whip:

However, my research has taught me that chemical rockets are internal combustion and that reaction does take place in a confined space.

Mea Culpa.
