That headlight surround and that crease down the side shore do look like a Merkary Capri, the poor man's XK-E!     :-\

looks like an aussie Ford, like  from Mad Max, the Pursuit cop cars   Aussie ford falcon?

Yes, it the Capri Corsair, a prototype, built in 1965 which almost foretold the look of the Ford Capri that went into production. The most obvious change was the change to a longer greenhouse and semi-ovoid rear quarter windows, instead of the Japanese-looking roof of this design. The Capri took another 4 years to reach production.
