Well, I have screwed up, yet again! I forgot to correct the name of the pic so I would know what it was. It is a somewhat cryptic name and I haven't been able to find anything searching for it.

I will give the name I have later if I still can't find anything on it.

OK, I give. The pic name is z-k_1939.

I don't know what I did, but I can not find anything under Z-K.

I'll give the point to anyone that can tell me what it is...

The left hand drive rules out Britain despite the MG alongside.  The Italians and Fench tended tofavour right hand drive for clockwise circuits.  It is unlikely to be from the USA as they were only into cycle-winged sports cars postwar.  That leaves Germany which the silver colour supports.   the Z-K also suggests Germany or the Netherlands.

The bonnet line looks too low for the tall BMW engine.

So where does that leave us?

Zundapp?  Karmann?

On the other hand, weren't headlamps in the grille a French idea?

Here is the original untouched photo (maybe the wings will help):

Well I found it here:

<< link deleted >>

As I don´t speak czech I can´t say anything more than this seems to be a Z-K, really:

"Z-K, český závodní vůz z roku 1939" (the first two words mean czech car, but I can´t say what the rest means...)

Score another one for Grob. I guess I didn't screw up as bad as I thought!
