Raymond Loewy as in the designer of the Studebaker Avanti? In comparison with that car this is ostentatious, 'busy', psychopathic. Even if the air horns are ignored

Don't know about Avanti, but as in Studebaker Golden and Silver Hawks where there are cues to be found.
Opinionated but sometimes wrong

KarnUtz made it again!

If you think this is ostentatious, look for the "Loraymo"...

The Loraymo looks tame compared to the Jag...

Definitely see cues to later Loewy designs in the Jag, especially the Avanti.  Then again, why mess with the original at all?

When first displayed at the Paris Salon, it had a cleaner look.  After boxer Archie Moore purchased the car in 1957 (supposedly for $25K), it returned to the simpler look as well.

I guess it proves the old used car salesman's adage, "there's an ass for every seat."
