A pre-(second) war offering: Solved! 1938 Lea-Francis Sports
« on: January 30, 2007, 02:00:13 PM »
This one is pre second War: you may detect certain features in common with the picture in my pre-(great) war offering, but what is the make and model of the car? (architect and year of the house optional ;D)

Oh, Lordy, that is a pretty car. Love the color. Have no idea what it is, but I WANT it!    ;)

You could have bought one on eBay last year: only $300,000 "Buy it now"!

Yes it is very English. Coventry in fact - right in the middle of England - which was our main centre for motor manufacturing

Yet another clue.
Produced by a company revived in 1937 after the bankruptcy of the old company (which had an illustrious racing history - and its cars continue their success in the VSCC to this day).

I'm tempted to guess Riley, but I have no idea what Riley that would be, if it even is a Riley.

None of the above. However the gearbox is from a Standard (or 1½ SS) but that won't help you!
Here's another view of the same car (and driver)

OK clue time.
Paying attention to the puzzles I've set may reveal something useful.
Or perhaps not, who can say!
