There are few cars uglier than the original Dodge Lancer, but this one certainly qualifies.   :o

I think the answer is in the shape of the roof and the rear quarter window - elements that cannot be easily modified from whatever the donor car was for this excressence. Those features remind me of the first Ford Capri, otherwise known as the "poor man's XKE".  But the windshield doesn't look right for that. And those wheels!  YUCK. Those have GOT to be American from KMart or some even lesser vendor - if such a thing is possible.

Sinde Capri is all my brain is telling me at the moment, I gotta go with that, even though I know its wrong.

the first 27000 cc V12 Merlin Rolls Royce Jameson Special , which has been desttroyed by fire in spain a long time ago . It's not a Spitfire engine but a 750 hp tank engine (without the compressor).
He built another one with same engine and 6 wheels (as the williams F1) with a nicest bodywork.
I saw the first one in Le Touquet in 1971.

I thought so too, but you beat me to it    :'(  - and I didn't know the name anyway   ::).

The R-R Meteor tank engine also had a re-profiled camshaft.  the Merlin being an aero engine was essentially single speed, while the Meteor had far less peaky torque and power curves making it far more usable in a road car.

I'm pleased to learn the car was destroyed.  The owner's fatuous claims  regarding the performanceused to annoy me.
