Or rather, name the car this heatshield is attached to:

Make and model, if you please.

Shouldn't this be in the Humor Section?    ::)

Ye of little faith.  ;)

I know it seems obscure, but this heatshield is fairly distinctive, and would, I think, be easily identified by one who's peeked under the hood of the car in question.

obscure

That, my good man, would be a little like saying Charles Manson was not a people person!   :o

However, to humor you, I am going to say it is the heat shield belonging to the starboard bank of a Maserati BiTurbo.  Why? Because I see what looks like three spark plug wires in the photo and my knowledge of turbocharged three cylinders is quite limited. Plus too and also, the shield itself does not seem to have the finesse of design one would expect from Audi and its twin turbo 2.7 liter motor.

So, that's my answer.   Am I on the right continent? ???

Not a Maserati Bi-Turbo, but the estimate of # of cylinders per bank is correct.

However, to humor you, I am going to say it is the heat shield belonging to the starboard bank of a Maserati BiTurbo.

Although this is a good guess, it could not possibly be a Maserati BiTurbo for a number of reasons:

1) The engine is not currently engulfed in flames.
2) The engine is not covered in Halon, dry chemicals, water or flame supressing goo car after having been recently engulfed in flames.
3) The electrics remain recognizable as having once been involved in electricity, rather than conflagration
4) The engine appears to be in good usable condition
5) It does not appear to have been abandoned
6) The Insta-Rust Coating appears to have failed (It is the solitary engine component that has never experienced a documented failure)
7) There is no evidence of knuckle blood
6) Nobody is swearing loudly at the engine

While it is true that there is the possiblity that a Maserti BiTurbo engine exists that meets all the above criteria, it is far more likely that tomorrow I shall pass a kidney stone the size and shape of Bille Burke dressed as Glinda, the Good Witch of the North.

I'll keep you posted.
