What Evel Lurks
« on: December 04, 2006, 05:22:06 AM »
Saturday. No school. On a late Summer’s Saturday, typically a slow news day, most TV viewing might usually be planned around pennant races and Bob Newhart. On one such Saturday, two unusual broadcasts would go out over the airwaves...

A great story, KU. Well written and well told. And to think I never even GUESSED you were Werner VonBraun's love child by Eva Braun!   :o

Come to think of it, it would have been mighty interesting to have such a match as the progeny would, perforce, be known as Somethingorother BraunVonBraun, which, of course would be literally true!   ::)

I crack me up!   :lmao:

You know, I always sorta figured the whole model car + rocket motor idea must have occurred to other kids as well. Good to know, and a great read as always!

My brother and I were aiming for a land speed record, for our part. Took advantage of a downhill-sloping 50 foot driveway, an erector set, and C-class  model rocket engines. We got in 3-4 runs, none of which went straight for more than 10 feet or so before pinwheeling.

Great read!

They sold those hotwheels in the mid 80s with the real rubber tires - those might work well ...

The only thing to say, is "why didn't I think of that??!!"

I had Hot Wheels... I had model rockets.... Damn. :P

The closest I ever came was duct taping a couple of very large smoke bombs to the back of a bicycle. I don't know what I was trying to accomplish, but the ensuing fireball that occurred when one of the bombs ignited was pretty cool.
