Hmmmm, intriguing. Looks like it might be based on a rear-engined Suzuki...

I have found reference to it as the 'Tortoise' from the TV drama 'KAIKI DAISAKUSEN'

I concur, it's the 1968 Tortoise based on Subaru Sambar, from the tv series "Operation: Mystery!" (Kaiki Daisakusen)
It's not denial, I'm just very selective about the reality I accept.

You're both correct, but it's hard to decide who gets the point! :-[
ImpishGrin was first who told the complete name incl. the based car, but Quiller did most of the work...

What do YOU suggest guys?   ;)

As a long time early guesser of puzzles eventually solved by others, thereby leading them to the answer, I say that a precedent has been established whereby the point goes to the person who solves it, unless the puzzle poster has placed a 'hold' on it.

Thanks for the advice Otto, but actually my last comment was originally adressed to Mr. ImpishGrin and Mr. Quiller, because in the past we had some problems concerning this subject.

I'd always say that the final arbiter is the puzzle-setter.  ;)

My personal opinion is that the first response that correctly answers the actual question set should get the point, regardless of whether any subsequent answers add further details that were not specifically asked for in the original question.

But like I said, it's your puzzle!

I share your opinion.
Think I preset a standard text for the next time.
In this particular case I only wrote "Know this?" which obviousely gives too many possibilities of right answers.

For the last time I'll give one point for each puzzler. To ImpishGrin and Quiller.

Fine, but as a founding member and admin at this site, it was important for me to share that info.

This is actually a re-post so if no Rookie (or Expert) solves it I'll merge it with the original.

'Tortoise', based on Subaru Samba 360 Van, 1968/69.  Featured in the Japanese science fiction-mystery-TV-series Kaiki Daisakusen (‘Operation Mystery’). Driven by the SRI-staff (SRI = Science Research Institute), a special police department set up to investigate ‘strange phenomenon’.
