A very famous band with a litany of hits.  Who are they?

Sorry to say it, but there's a major glitch in this one. When I play it in the Windows Media Player, it says "The Isley Brothers: Go For Your Guns"... and that kinda gave it away...

I'm not an expert on this kind of music, so I had it narrowed down to Earth, Wind & Fire, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Sly and the Family Stone or Jefferson Airplane. Was just going to get deeper into the mystery when the answer sort of popped op on my screen...

Well, that sucks.

:(

Thanks for playing and I will start a new thread shortly.

You're probably aware of this, but the problem lies in the fact that even if you rename the file the information may still be contained inside unless you actively remove it. At first I was wondering whether it was a red herring, and that it was actually something else than the Isley Brothers, but when I found the track on amazon.com it all came together. Still, as I said in the Must Post thread - I like the puzzle idea, keep it up!

(I read up on the Isley Brothers on the RRHOF web site, and was pleased to see that I wasn't too far off when I had Jimi Hendrix in mind - he did play with the band at some time. I grew up with parents who listened to the likes of Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Bee Gees, Beatles, Carly Simon, and even Queen, so I'm luckily not entirely offside when it comes to '70s music, even if I was born near the end of the decade...)

Forgetfulness.   The new puzzle addresses that issue.
