Hmmmm.....the car in the background bears an Alfa logo. The car itself appears to be rear engined.

So, I guess a Fiat product. Nice the way they picked a muddy field for the introductory reveal, although they could have added a cow patty or two to better illustrate the "charm" of their design.    ::)

Could be a Zaporozhets (ZAZ) prototype, possibly the 4×4 LUAZ.

The children all laughed back in 1967 when Glen rolled what he called "the Hummer" out of his shop.  He would have his revenge.  He could feel it.

I don't think that's an ALFA in the background...I think it's a Moskvitch...which leads me to think that the car in question is also a Moskvitch...am I close?

It looks eastern bloc and the only other names I can think of are Zil (but they made limousines) and Tatra.

There's also UAZ, Zil, ZIK, VAZ, ASM, GAZ,  OKZ KTZz, URG, PZT, TrQ, KZK, and Russo-Balsamic Grand People's Party Automotive United Front Against the Running Pig-Dog Imperialistic Western Lackie Scourge, or Iz, for short.

Some of those may not be spelled correctly. I'm especially suspect of that "Balsamic" bit.

However, this car is a "Ural-Siber TransCommuno Dirtclod GelandePuddle".

Otherwise known as a SeAZ (yes that is capitalized correctly) SZD (Really! Hey, I'm not joking here!) from 1980 (Dammit, I'm serious.). It's powered by a 350cc (I don't appreciate your laughter) two cylinder (This is my last warning, buster!) motorcycle engine that is capable of (Right! That's it then. If you're not going to take me seriously, I am done. Good day to you, Sir!)

Absolutely Correct!  ;D

The company was founded in July 7, 1939 by order of the People's Commissar of General Engineering Industry and by the head of Glavmotoveloprom, concerning production of small capacity motorcycles. During 1939 to 1995 the company produced various microcars, usually powered by IZH motorcycle engines. Since the early 1980s they produce the Lada Oka microcar.

I think this is the russian SZD Invalidka car.

Some german sources call it the S-ZA. Well its production started in 1958 in the former motorcycle factory of Serpuchov (SMZ)

I have it under SZD alright, but the company who made it doesn't refer to the car as "Invalidka". The actual name of the factory is SeAZ.
But you found it.
