« on: November 10, 2007, 05:15:27 PM »
Well this is a bit of a puzzle - but that's what we do here, isn't it?
Make model and any information you care to dredge up, as usual please

Like nothing I remember.  But...radiator grille ex Mk1 Ford Consul, I think, therefore 1955 or later.  Standard Lucas lights.  London registration?

Yes, yes and no - it's an Essex registration (to go with the grille?!)

According to the authorities the car still exists, is taxed until August 2008, is blue and has a 2088cc engine.
Some of that could be a clue!

No guesses yet.
OK time for a clue: the underlying marque will celebrate its centenary in a couple of years.

Time for another clue: the underlying sports car in its normal guise would still be recognisable at its factory today.

Roy Clarkson, a Scottish dentist, leased a Ferrari which he raced, but he hated it for its unreliability, while loving its looks. He instead bought a Morgan with a Triumph TR2 engine and had a local coachbuilder build him a coupé body to look roughly like a Ferrari, running that for a short time, having the best of both worlds. On several websites this car goes by the name of the "faux-Ferrari", or fake Ferrari - and it is what is pictured here!

There's a pretty comprehensive reply - anyone would think you are also a member of TNF, which is where both you and I found this one I think.
Well done

I did my best not to make it look like a simple case of cut'n'paste, but it appears I'm busted  ;D

Still, it was the last clue that helped me. After all, not too many English manufacturers produce cars today that are similar to the ones they made in the Fifties. And as I know that Morgan Motor Co. was established in 1909... well, then the only thing left was to find the link.

Good puzzle, though!
