Barrett's #220 - Half Solved - Hugo Galicio building a Suton 900
« on: September 26, 2011, 11:29:40 AM »
I have no idea what this car is. For a point please tell me who the gentleman pictured on the right is. If you can prove what the car he is building is based on, you'll get another point

Fiat 1100 ? The chassis is not professional and the body was perhaps built in Argentina ?
Perhaps Mr Frua on the right :

Like I say, I have no idea what the car is. The Suton 900 does look very close though, and this photo was indeed taken in Argentina.
The man is certainly not Pietro Frua, he is far, far less known. I have almost zero information about him, although he has been mentioned briefly on Autopuzzles once before....

Hugo Galizio ?

Yes!

Actually, I believe his name is spelt 'Galicio' but I can't really be sure either way. Well done, I'll award you a point for that. Another point for anyone who can provide proof of what car he is building.

I'd also be interested in seeing any other cars built by him, other than this one and the modified Cisitalia that has been posted here before I've never seen any of his work.

Cisitalia 202?

Like I say, I really don't know, but the more I look at the picture of the Suton 900, the more I think that these cars are one and the same

I think he was named Hugo Antonio Galizio From what I understand he was behind the building of Ford "El Huevo" (the egg) race car driven by Carlos Destefano.

And he built the body on this 1937 Delage D6-3L (chassis G4331):

Edit: Damn, I didn't notice that this thread was soon 4 years old before now.  :o

Suton was built by Motormec in Santa Fe.
Hugo Galicio was from San Fernando.
I believe they are the same car.

Any chance you could do something with this one Scott?

I think unless somebody can prove otherwise we'll say it is indeed the Suton 900. Another point for SACO and moved to Solved...

Hugo Galicio was an extremely talented panel beater, he repaired, restored and built entire bodies for many cars. Very little is known about the Suton, apparently one aluminium body was made, from which molds were taken to produce the glass fiber bodies. The chassis was supplied by Teram(Porsche Teram) from San Fernando, same as Galicio. I'm just guessing, but maybe Galicio made the aluminium prototype?

Should these be merged?: https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2013-42/solved-neh-2746-suton-900-1959/

It does rather look like the same car, if a slightly different sort of puzzle.
What do others think?
