Well, not much input on this one, except for a few people who like it. (Me, too!) But I keep looking at that windshield and it looks to me like it's from something else (maybe an XKE?) and flipped around so what used to be the top edge by the roof is now the front edge. There was some kit car back in the late 60s/early 70s that used to do that, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. The scoop on the hood definitely looks pasted on, too. FWIW...

Extremely cool looking car! I'm hoping we eventually find out what it is. I love it!

I doubt the windshield is an XKE part, although who knows... I just don't have any information on this fact. It is not a kit car, it existed (or would it be better to say 'exists', as I guess it is right? ;) ) as a single example and was used for racing, as most of you probably have understood already.

Might as well get the Q&A started. Was it built by U.S. people for the Carrera Panamericana?

Is it from 1958 & the photo from Alabama? I ask because there is a 1958 car in the background with the letters Ala visable.

Non built by U.S. people, not shot in Alabama, not Carrera Panamericana (as far as I know this car did not participate in it).
As for the year, I don't know the exact year, but around 1958 is correct, I guess.

Okay - complete WAG here, but for some reason, when I look at this car, a voice inside my head says, "Spain."

Not Spanish, but your inner voice is still somehow right. It is South American.

This is a Studebaker equipped racing car. On the bonnet is written "FAIN Maracay" Apparently some brothers "Maracay Zilio" are behind that project. The Google translator confuses me with the real name it has..
