Are we looking at a 1956 Edsel concept car?

This is a 1/10th scale model for the 1957 Packard that was never made (except in Studebaker form)...

Not an Edsel, no.

It's a Packard, yes.
But it has a name; what is it?

Well, this model is sometimes called "Black Bess," baseed on the Predictor show car.  They actually built a Black Bess that looked somewhat like this model, but was apparently kind of cobbled together.

"Black Bess" - similar, but much less elegant . . .

Yeah, the model looks much better!  It's too bad Packard couldn't get the Predictor styled cars built.  As an added note, Packard apparently planned to keep the normal model names for the '57s, had they materialized as pictured...like The Four Hundred and Patrician...including some Clipper models.

OK, I posted the puzzle as the Packard Black Bess because that's what it was referred to on various websites.  Perhaps the original model was called Black Bess then when they made cobbled together a real one they called that Black Bess too, to fool people it was the same car?

Either way, the point is yours!

According to the Beverly Rae Kimes Packard book and Collectible Automobile, "Black Bess" only refers to the cobbled-together full-scale car. The small model was intended to be the 1957 Packard Patrician.
