I've been waiting for this one to come up since it first appeared on the Rookies board, but in the event I was defeated by the time differential in the UK (we're an hour behind everyone else in Europe...) and was pipped at the post by just a few minutes!

But I was going to say it was an LMB Debonair, as it could well also have been since Leslie Bellamy did a deal with Edwards to fit their body to his chassis.

Although it was produced until 1962, when Bellamy retired completely from the car industry, the Debonair was first introduced by the Edwards Brothers at the Racing Car Show, Olympia in January 1961.

So strictly speaking the 1962 date is only correct if it's an LMB Debonair; if it's an EB Debonair it should be 196!!

Anyone know how to tell the difference between an EB and an LMB Debonair? Quiller?  Djetset?

a) not Bellamy but Ballamy
b) this one looks longer behind the rear wheel than I remember or than I can find in other photos. The missing rear screen makes it look wrong anyway, of course!

The page where I found this picture says 1962 and EB Debonaird. I am happy to change the details if someone proves me wrong

You're absolutely right Allan!
All the times I've seen the name and never noticed that.  Your brain sees what it expects, not what's actually there!

EB Debonair:
LMB Debonair:

I also know the page, first I remembered the car as LMB debonair, but searching in google I found the original photo on a German site so I decided to respond EB debonair and year attributed to It. It is true that for what is said on the page displaying Carnut It is likely that the year and the car does not correspond, although no exact date between denomination EB and LMB. The only certain thing  is that the design is of Edwards Brothers and the model debonair, Sorry for my English.

It was also known as the EB Debonair (Edwards Brothers), but as the EB/LMB Debonair the same car has appeared before on AP (see my Reply #1).

I've tried but have been unable to find another name for it.

The only other possible variation I can find is that the chassis of the LMB (later EB) Debonair went on to form the basis of the Reliant Sabre sports car, although using a different (Ashley) body.

Is this then a prototype for the Reliant Sabre, still using a Debonair body?

It is not a prototype.

The source I´ve scanned it from has a different name and make for this Ford based kit car.

And there's no doubt that this source is reliable and correct?

I´ve scanned the picture from a standard german car cataloque from the early 1960´s and I think I can´t see other blunders in it - so I´m quite sure it is reliable.

As I´ve said it is not this one or any other name mentioned before.
Certainly there must be a connection to the debonair...

Maybe we should stop the puzzle here and I may reveil my source.

Then we can start a discussion if this company has ever existed and if it has built this car under the name I want to hear.

What do you all think?
